Beautification News
We have had a fantastic couple of weeks sprucing up Willow Springs Elementary School!
Our new picnic tables have been installed outside the cafeteria in front of the school. We hope this will provide families with a great spot to eat lunch on sunny days! Come check them out!
On Friday, March 27th we had two wonderful landscape companies at our school, providing professional services out front and in back! We'd like to say a huge thank you to Greenscape for completely re-landscaping the planting bed at the front of our school - they did an amazing job! And a huge thank you to Dillon Landscapes who worked to fix the drainage problem we were having in the vegetable garden.
Then on Sunday, March 29th, we had a fantastic turnout at our Spring Clean Up Day! The vegetable garden was completely prepped for Spring, the perennial garden was weeded and readied for new plants plus an arbor set up and the holes were dug for our two new trees. Many, many thanks to all the families, teachers, staff and the Indian Princess tribe who came out to make this such a successful event.
Also many thanks to:
Novozymes Nature's Green-Releaf for donating compost, Dupree Farms for donating straw, Byrd's Tree Service, Inc. for donating mulch and the Wheeler family for donating cardboard boxes for the walkways in the vegetable garden and for bringing the completed upside down planters that they drilled holes in and painted.
The beautification continued the following Saturday, April 4th with the planting of a Celestial Dogwood tree in front of the school in honor of Mr. Langley. Mrs. Miller presented him with a copy of the Giving Tree as we dedicated this wonderful tree to him for his years of service at WSES. The fifth graders planted a
Willow Oak outside their pod the same day in what we hope will become an annual fifth grade tradition. Now we have a great way to remember the Class of 2009 and they have given their school a gift that they can come back and watch grow! Many thanks to Southern Landscapes for providing special pricing and delivery of both trees and to Mr.and Mrs. Bolliger for overseeing the planting!
